An ancient folklore is attached to this church located in South Goa which states that there were three Portuguese kings who wanted to rule over this land and kept fighting each other over it. One of the kings, Holgar, invited the other two kings for lunch and poisoned them with it. Upon their murder, he was elated because he could now become the ruling king of the village. But hearing this evil trick, the villagers were furious and marched up to his fort to kill him. However, before they could reach him, he consumed the poison himself and died. Thus, the three kings were buried inside this church and named after them as well. Located 20kms to the west in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, Kuldhara is an abandoned village and a heritage site in India. Once home to Paliwal Brahmins, this village was abandoned by its own people in fear of the then Diwan of the village, Salim Singh who forcefully wanted to marry the daughter of the village chief and threatened villagers with heavy taxes. From past 200 years, no person has been able to settle down in Kuldhara. The whole village remains empty and is believed to have been cursed by the residents of the village before leaving. The gates of Kuldhara are closed by neighbouring villagers to safeguard themselves from any mishappenings.

Shaniwar Wada served as the ruling seat for Maratha Empire until 1818 when Peshwa was defeated and lost control to Britishers. This spooky fort is believed to be haunted by the ghost of a 17-year-old prince. According to the story, Narayanrao was the last and youngest Peshwa of Shaniwar Wada. However, his uncle Raghunathrao disliked the young prince and wanted to dethrone him. Fearing increased disputes, the young prince ordered a house arrest for Raghunathrao. Furious over the arrest of her husband, Anandiben, Raghunathrao’s wife, sought help from Gardis, highly trained assassins, to free him from captivity. Gardis entered the fort and started creating a commotion. Narayanrao, on seeing Gardis ran towards his uncle’s chamber shouting ‘“Kaka! Mala Vachva!!” or “Uncle! Save me!” but was eventually killed. From then till now, people have reported hearing a voice screaming the same lines on a full moon night. In 1828, a massive unknown fire broke out which destroyed the entire fort. People living nearby strongly believe this place to be haunted by the ghost of the young prince.
