You may be wondering what difference will it make by one person becoming a green traveler. You are wrong. Earth doesn’t belong to us but we belong to Earth. So, it becomes our significant duty to preserve it. Small efforts bring big change. Maybe you inspire your fellow travelers. But how can you do it? Here are some little attempts to help you become a green traveler. Lets go about them.

  1. Non-stop and day flights: Short-haul flights require at least one more takeoff and landing. The impacts of night flying on the Earth have been well documented. The temperature of the atmosphere increases when planes fly at night, because heat is trapped. Therefore, non-stop flights and day flights are the best eco-friendly ways to reach your destination. So, always try to look for such flights which do not have added stops and day flights are preferable. You may be the first contribution in reducing night travel passengers but you will not be the last. So, make sure to be the one. If traveling with family, you are reducing almost 4 to 5 passengers from traveling at night.

2. Avoid plastic bottles: Bringing your own bottle and bags is better than using plastic bottles! Avoid plastic water bottles by packing a sturdy reusable bottle in your bag. The burden on the overflowing landfills will be reduced if you bring your own bottle. The reduction of non-biodegradable waste on Earth will be greatly improved by saying no to plastic carry bags. The convenience of carrying a single bag not only makes your life more sustainable, but it is also more comfortable. Use tin or aluminium bottles which are reusable.

3. Try to save power: It is important to be conservative when using other places' resources although you are paying for it. Make sure you switch off lights and fans when you don’t need them. Energy shouldn't be wasted pointlessly.  Try to use as little energy as possible. Be a saver and not a waster.

4.  Reduce your shower time: Water must be treated and transported to be of an acceptable level. This requires energy, which contributes to greenhouse gases. Showering for 5 minutes instead of 10 minutes is much better for the planet. Also, do not leave running water even for a second. Make sure to be kind to these important resources of the destination. Taking care of these will make you a green traveler.

5. Electric vehicles are preferable: Several tourist attractions feature electric taxis and buses. They are preferred over gasoline-powered cars and taxis because they are sustainable modes of travel. So, definitely go for them. Also, use bicycles to wander locally. It is fun riding plus saves the environment plus good for health. Public transport helps you get to know local people. You can communicate and ask them for good places around, to eat and travel to.  That will be a good exercise to make amazing memories and lighten your mood.
